The strength of the market showed no signs of stopping during the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare and Weanling sales, with records being set with startling regularity. These sales also had the added attraction of the Shadwell Australia dispersal (offered by Yarraman Park), adding even more quality to an already strong catalogue.
25 mares brought $1,000,000 or more. 11 of these mares were from the Shadwell dispersal.
The sales topper was multiple Group 1 winning and champion Arcadia Queen, who’s price of $3.2 million set the highwater mark for a mare this sales season. Offered by Holbrook Thoroughbreds, she was secured by Arrowfield Stud.
The foal section of the Gold Coast National sale also saw dramatic jumps across all metrics. The top foal was purchased by Ciaron Maher from the Gilgai draft for $1,000,000. That price is the highest recorded price for a foal at this sale going back to 2009 (Magic Millions provides sales data for this sale up until 2009). The colt is by Yarraman Park’s flagship stallion I Am Invincible and out of a listed stakes winning daughter of Ocean Park.
