The 2023 edition of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale defied the declining global economic conditions to post strong results once again with 353 yearlings selling for a gross of $137m with a clearance rate of 84%.  The top price for the sale was achieved by a filly by The Autumn Sun from Silverdale Farm who sold for $1.8m.

The median and average for the sale dropped slightly from 2022 at $280,000 ($300,000) and $390,283 ($399,700) respectively while the clearance rated dropped 3% from the previous year and the aggregate spend was down $16m with 30 fewer yearlings sold.

The FBAA was well represented with 17 members active accounting for 18% of the number of yearlings sold and 15% of the gross.  Suman Hedge lead the way, being involved in the purchase of 13 yearlings for a total spend of $4,710,000.
