The 2021 breeding stock sales came to a conclusion at the Inglis Great Southern Broodmare and Weanling sale with marked improvements from 2020.

The stakes-placed Too Good Too Hard topped the broodmare portion of the sale, bringing $560,000 to Suman Hedge (FBAA). She was offered by Mill Park Stud. Twelve mares brought $100,000 or more. The 2020 edition of the Great Southern Sale did not feature broodmares/broodmare prospects, so a comparison on sales metrics was not possible.

The Zoustar colt out of the Group 3 winner Vergara, offered by Blue Gum Farm and purchased by BBT Breeding and Racing Pty Ltd, set a sale record price for a foal when he was knocked down for $360,000. Coolmore’s So You Think (NZ) led the sire’s table by gross, with 11/12 of his foals selling for a combined $1,200,500. Of sires with three or more sold Newgate’s Capitalist led by average, with ¾ of his progeny selling for an average $145k. He also led by median ($100k).
