Private transaction Bill of Sale

As proof of a private bloodstock purchase, you should obtain a written statement attesting to the sale of bloodstock to a buyer dated and signed by both the buyer and the seller or a designated representative thereof.

Australian Thoroughbred Sales Code of Conduct

As well as the FBAA Code of Ethics, the industry as a whole is governed by the Australian Thoroughbred Sales Code of Conduct. The objectives of this Code are to ensure that Australian bloodstock sales meet a high standard of integrity and transparency and the interests of involved parties in the bloodstock industry are protected.

Bloodstock Disclosure

For every public bloodstock sale, and forming part of the Australian Thoroughbred Sales Code of Ethics, vendors must provide full and complete disclosure of any major health or injury issues of their lots including surgeries, impaired vision, windsucking, wobbling or respiratory problems. Any restrictions, embargoes or bans or security interests on the lot must also be disclosed. Vendors may elect to provide X-rays, surgical reports and/or veterinary treatment reports of their horses that can be viewed by prospective buyers.
