The Federation of Bloodstock Agents Australia (FBAA) announces the commencement of its 2024 Mentorship Program, aimed at nurturing aspiring professionals in the bloodstock industry. This innovative initiative offers a unique opportunity for individuals to gain invaluable experience under the guidance of seasoned FBAA members.
The FBAA Mentorship Program is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive professional development experience over a two-month period. Through a combination of practical office-based placements, agent shadowing at sales events, and remote learning, mentees will acquire essential skills and insights into the intricacies of the bloodstock trade.
Key objectives of the program include:
- Educating Mentees: Mentees will benefit from structured work placements and mentorship engagements, enabling them to learn best practices from experienced FBAA members and enhancing their career prospects.
- Promoting Integrity: Upholding principles of integrity, accountability, and ethics is paramount in the bloodstock industry. Mentees will be introduced to the FBAA Code of Ethics from the outset, fostering a culture of integrity and professionalism.
- Formalizing Career Pathways: The Mentorship Program serves as a formal pathway for individuals aspiring to become qualified bloodstock agents, providing them with the necessary guidance and support to succeed in the industry.
- Developing a Scalable Model: FBAA aims to establish a robust mentorship framework that can be easily replicated and scaled, ensuring the sustainability of the program for future cohorts.
Expected outcomes of the program include the creation of skilled professionals who uphold industry standards, assistance with career progression, and the establishment of a flexible mentorship model adaptable to the evolving needs of the industry.
The structure of the Mentorship Program encompasses various modes of engagement, including face-to-face meetings, online discussions, office-based work placements, agent shadowing at sales, and theoretical submissions. This multifaceted approach ensures a comprehensive learning experience for participants.
To accommodate industry schedules, the program will coincide with key sales events, including the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale and the Inglis Great Southern Sale, culminating before the breeding season commences.
Applications for the FBAA Mentorship Program are now open and will close on Friday March 15, 2024.
The FBAA will cover the cost of flights and accommodation for selected mentees attending the sales events, further enhancing accessibility to this invaluable learning opportunity.
Upon completion of the mentorship, participants will undergo a qualification process to assess their progress and receive formal acknowledgment for their successful completion of the program.
